Alex Scarr ~ Owner of Yoga Weyr and Instructor.

     Alex has been involved in the fitness industry for several decades.  As a swimming instructor, a fitness leader, and these last 16 years a devotee of Yoga.  She is in her 35th year of a daily yoga practice and has been teaching yoga for 20 years.  She has studied Iyengar, Anusara and Ashtanga which is her daily practice. 

    It is her passion and love of the discipline of Yoga that has helped create this world class studio.

Angelina  moved to Nanaimo from Victoria, where she began her studies of Hatha Yoga ( postures, breathwork, relaxation ) fifteen years ago.  She travelled to South India to complete a teather-training program in Sivananda Yoga, then to Argentina where she studied at the Indra Devi Foundation.  She is also certified in Stott Pilates, and enjoys teaching mat classes in addition to Hatha Yoga.

    Angelina is familiar with many different styles of Yoga, and has participated in numerous workshops while working closely with highly experienced teachers from around the world.  With a strong background in wellness and education, she hopes to inspire others along the Yogic path.

Wendy Wagner ~ Instructor.

Wendy commenced on her Yogic path six years ago. She obtained a RYT 200 level with Kavita Maharaj of  Red Door Yoga, and is has now completed the RYT 500 competencies. Her teaching experience has focused on Power and Hatha classes with a diverse population, and in a variety of settings. More recent practice has included concentrated awareness around the intricacies of internal disciplines such as Yin and Restorative Yoga.


Her career as a nurse, and participant as a competitive long distance runner have both lead to a yogic pathway. A firm believer in balance of mind, body and spirit, Wendy found yoga a perfect compliment to her existing lifestyle.

The intent within her Yogic guidance is to offer the atmosphere, energy, and opportunity for participants to challenge themselves within their own reality.

Allyson Morrison ~ Instructor

What gift is your Body that you haven't been willing to acknowledge?

Ally found Yoga at a pivotal time in her life. Struggling with anxiety and depression, she began a daily practice and was amazed at the benefits it provided her. The more she connected with her Body, the more she was able to let go of the lifetime of trauma she was holding onto. She immersed herself into several different Energy Healing modalities, BodyTalk, Access Bars, Crystals,  and began to see a dramatic shift in her life. 

After taking a 200hr YTT in 2016, she began guiding others in how to move and connect with their bodies, and to let go of the trauma they were holding onto. She is passionate about using the tools of yoga to overcome trauma. By using breath, movement and sound, she facilitates others to reconnect to themselves and their Bodies. 

Ally spent the last 2 years teaching Trauma Informed Yoga with survivors of abuse.

Laura Jesson ~ Instructor

A natural born yogi, from philosophy to physical activity, breath and body, movement and stillness, Laura is always striving for balance in her life and empowering the same in others. After five years of personal practice, she took her first training in Moksha Yoga, followed by PreNatal Yoga with Janice Clarfield, and Yin Yoga with Bernie Clark.  One strong source of inspiration and teachings woven throughout continues to be the influence of Michael Stone, who was a Psychotherapist, Yoga, Buddhist and Mindful Meditation teacher, author, activist, mentor and friend.

Laura is currently finding more peace through stillness in Meditation, Relaxation and lots of cycling! When not on her mat Laura takes all she learns being mom to two beautiful boys and creates more love in life.

E-RYT 500+, Moksha 500 hours, Prenatal Yoga, Yin Yoga, Trauma Sensitive Training, Mindfulness Meditation Training. BA Degree in Psychology. Post Graduate Diploma in Wellness and Lifestyle Management

Lisa Simchison ~ Instructor

Lisa has been practicing yoga for more than 10 years and teaching for almost as long. She loves the feeling of relaxation you get in a restorative pose after a long day. She has taught power yoga, hatha yoga, yin and restorative yoga but her yoga loves are definitely restorative and yin - there is nothing quite like that release of body and mind.


When not teaching yoga you can find Lisa painting, paddle boarding or hiking with her family, reading or playing ukulele.

Devon Bennett ~ Instructor


 Devon has been practicing yoga for ten years and sharing his practice for 3. He has taught over a 1000 paid classes in his first three years and is passionate about helping his community to become stronger, more flexible and capable of living in better balance.

Devon believes the trans formative power of yoga is universal and available to all who seek it.
